18 August 2554 // Halo: Primordium
#book
The main storyline of Halo: Primordium takes place in 97, 446 BCE following the events of Halo: Cryptum. It is told in the form of flashbacks as an ONI science team interrogate a damaged Forerunner monitor which then begins to describe the events of the main storyline. This secondary storyline is used as a narrative framing device for the novel and continues to pop up intermittently throughout. These events take place from 18 August 2554 to 21 August 2554.
Below is an outline of this secondary storyline.

The secondary storyline of Halo: Primordium, which works as a narrative framing device for the main storyline, is set on the UNSC Rubicon and follows an ONI science team who have recovered a damaged Forerunner monitor from The Ark (Installation 00) following the events of Halo 3. As they interrogate the monitor over the course of a few days, hoping to learn more about the Didact, the monitor attempts to hack into the UNSC Rubicon’s systems and take control of the vessel.

RE: TRANSFER REQUEST >> [S-IV//82271-20098-SE]
Jun, I've taken a look at your recent recommendations and feel that Spartan Eklund would be an ideal candidate for this next undertaking we spoke of. Her performance while attached to Fireteam Crimson was nothing short of extraordinary, and while the results of BELLINGHAM and LATE TAXI were certainly group achievements, I’m confident her skill set can produce similar gains in more "isolated" endeavors. We'll sort out the details this week and get them sent over.

Halo 4 | Audio Log: Halsey’s Observations
15 December 2554

Context: The following is a transcript of an audio log found in Halo 4.
TRANSCRIPT:
Halsey: Catherine Halsey, personal observations - December 15, 2554. While the survey crews examining Gamma Halo may be what pass for experts at ONI now, they are woefully out of their league for a task of this scale. There has been one somewhat startling discovery, however. One of the teams stumbled upon a device remarkably similar to the AI Matrix Compiler currently in use by the UNSC. Seeing as how I designed that particular compiler, this finding, needless to say, has piqued my curiosity.
Learn more: The original audio log can be heard in this YouTube video at 16:16 minutes.

Audio logs: In addition to the terminals, the majority of which I have embedded in The Forerunner Legacy section of this timeline, there are also a series of audio logs scattered throughout the game. Most of these audio logs provide further context to the Master Chief’s immediate environment/situation. However, there are two audio logs recorded by Dr Halsey which have dates attached to them. The excellent video below features all of the audio logs. However, I have also transcribed Halsey’s voice recordings and inserted them in their relevant timeline positions (11 February 2550 and 15 December 2554).
